Refrigeration System for a Major Distribution Center in the Retail Industry

Our state-of-the-art ammonia refrigeration systems ensure your cold storage and warehousing operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely.

Project Overview

This project focuses on the complete supply and installation of an advanced refrigeration system for a large-scale cold storage facility. The system is designed to ensure precise temperature control across various storage zones, utilizing modern ammonia refrigeration technology to meet the demanding requirements of the industry. The entire plant operates automatically, with the compressors' capacity adjusting to match the demand.

Technical Overview

The refrigeration system is based on an ammonia setup with screw compressors, providing high efficiency and reliability. The compressors are configured to handle both high-stage and low-stage cooling loads, with one unit capable of switching between stages as needed. Evaporative condensers are installed for condensing hot gases, and separators are used to manage different temperature zones within the facility. Plate heat exchangers cool propylene glycol and water, ensuring the required temperatures are maintained across the cold storage and warehouse areas. The chilled water and glycol cooling circuits are supported by circulation pumps, with standby units for redundancy.

Additionally, the system is equipped with heat exchangers for defrosting the cold store coolers, utilizing a glycol heating system. The facility features numerous air coolers for both the cold rooms and warehouse, ensuring efficient temperature management. All piping connections are high-pressure tested, and valves, fittings, and lines are installed externally for easy maintenance.

A SCADA system is integrated into the refrigeration setup, allowing real-time monitoring and control of critical parameters, enhancing both safety and efficiency. The system also includes safety measures such as ammonia leak detection and ventilation, ensuring a safe operational environment.
