Mechanical Design Engineer – Ammonia Refrigeration

About the Role

ADEAREST is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong experience in industrial ammonia refrigeration systems. The role is responsible for interpreting project contracts, developing refrigeration and HVAC designs, completing engineering calculations, selecting equipment, coordinating BIM deliverables, and producing accurate documentation for review, approval, coordination, and construction.

The successful candidate will provide technical guidance to other design team members and ensure all engineering outputs comply with project specifications, company standards, international codes, and regional requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret project contracts and scopes covering industrial refrigeration, commercial refrigeration racks, and HVAC ventilation systems.
• Prepare and verify pre-design specifications, block flow diagrams, process layouts, and system arrangements.
• Ensure designs comply with project specifications, applicable standards, authority requirements, and regional regulations.
• Manage BIM procedures in accordance with BS 1192, PAS 1192-5, BS 8536-2, and company requirements.
• Lead the selection, technical evaluation, and approval of refrigeration and HVAC equipment within the design scope.
• Perform refrigeration system design, analysis, and engineering calculations.
• Complete heat-load, HVAC, thermal, pipe-stress, vibration, seismic, and other relevant calculations.
• Develop drawings and documentation for design review, consultant approval, coordination, and Issued for Construction submissions.
• Conduct interdisciplinary clash detection and resolve design conflicts before construction.
• Identify value-engineering opportunities without compromising safety, performance, quality, or compliance.
• Prepare and review Bills of Materials and Bills of Quantities.
• Produce AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM deliverables according to company standards and project requirements.
• Review redlines, sketches, work scopes, and technical comments to produce accurate mechanical plans.
• Coordinate project timelines and ensure timely completion of drawings, calculations, submissions, and technical documents.
• Review designs prepared by other team members and provide technical guidance and quality checks.
• Support the development of design conventions, templates, procedures, and standards across projects.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness across all engineering deliverables.
