Custom-Built Refrigerated Containers for Offshore Catering and Food Suppliers
Advanced Refrigeration Systems for Marine Containers with Industry-Compliant Standards and Flexible Designs
ADEAREST successfully delivered innovative refrigeration solutions for offshore catering and food supply, addressing the unique challenges of transporting temperature-sensitive goods to remote oil and gas rigs. Our custom-engineered containers ensured the safe and efficient delivery of frozen and chilled food supplies, helping our client meet the rigorous demands of offshore operations.
Project Overview
ADEAREST was commissioned to deliver custom refrigeration solutions for the transportation of chilled and frozen food supplies to offshore oil and gas rigs. This project involved the design and manufacturing of specialized offshore refrigeration containers to ensure the safe transport and storage of food items under precise temperature conditions.
Our client, a major catering and food supplier for offshore sites, required reliable, versatile containers capable of maintaining optimal temperature control for both frozen and chilled goods. These containers needed to withstand the harsh marine environment while meeting rigorous offshore safety standards.
Client Requirements
- Custom-designed refrigeration containers to transport and store frozen and chilled food
- Flexibility to function as chillers, freezers, or dry storage units
- Compliance with industry safety and performance standards, including DNV 2.7-1 and BS7072
- Durability to withstand the harsh offshore and marine environments
- Pad eyes designed according to BS EN 10855 for safe offshore lifting operations
Solution
To meet the client's specific needs, ADEAREST designed and manufactured a series of refrigerated offshore containers with robust features:
- Refrigeration Systems: Each container was equipped with custom refrigeration units capable of maintaining temperatures from -25oC for frozen goods to +5oC for chilled items, ensuring food quality throughout transport and storage.
- Container Specifications: Containers were available in 10ft, 20ft, and 40ft sizes, fabricated with high-quality, marine-grade materials to ensure they could withstand extreme weather conditions at sea while keeping food items fresh and safe.
- Compliance with Offshore Standards: The containers were designed to meet DNV 2.7-1 and BS7072 standards, which are essential for offshore environments. Pad eyes were engineered according to BS EN 10855 for safe lifting and handling during transport and offshore installation.
- Flexible Design: These containers were designed with versatility in mind. They can function as freezers, chillers, or dry storage units depending on the specific needs of the catering operation.
Key Features of the Refrigeration System
- High-Efficiency Compressors: Equipped with advanced compressors, the refrigeration units provide energy-efficient cooling, helping reduce fuel consumption and operational costs during transport and storage.
- Durable Insulation: The containers were insulated with high-quality materials, ensuring consistent internal temperatures even when exposed to extreme external conditions.
- Shock & Vibration Resistance: Designed to withstand the vibrations and mechanical stress encountered during marine transport, these systems provided reliable cooling even in the most challenging offshore conditions.
- Remote Monitoring: Each refrigeration unit was integrated with remote monitoring technology, allowing operators to track temperatures and system performance, ensuring consistent refrigeration during long-distance transport to offshore sites.
Results
- Improved Food Safety: The custom-built refrigeration containers ensured that frozen and chilled food supplies reached offshore rigs in pristine condition, preserving their quality during transportation and storage.
- Operational Efficiency: The energy-efficient refrigeration systems helped reduce the cost of transport while maintaining the temperature controls necessary to avoid spoilage or waste.
- Standards Compliance: The client benefited from a solution that is fully compliant with offshore industry standards, ensuring effective and reliable operations.
